Gathering Signatures for Referendum on Freezing Property Taxes

Should voters hold the purse strings for local property taxes is this: Will people ever vote to tax themselves?

Tennessee State University public policy professor Rodney Stanley said voter distaste for "taxation of any kind" would keep tax rates flat even as public needs grow.

Should property tax increases should be controlled directly by voters. If you believe in the values of our founding fathers you’ll sign a referendum on freezing property taxes or at least indexing them to inflation. There is enough waste and excess in government.

For instance, who would be so pompous to retire after 20-years service at 75% pay while the rest of the nation has to toil 45-years before retirement? Answer – government workers!

States can save billions on saved entitlements resulting from early retirement for school teachers, police, fire, local, state workers and all publicly held offices. A referendum proposing the elimination of early retirement contracts and replaced by minimum 40-year contracts. The rule of 85 – where as ones age and length of service total 85 must be met before a pension request is honored.
